Historical Context

Oil revenues, especially after the 1973 oil crisis, funded massive development projects. The wealth was invested in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and industrial development. While earlier Mossadegh's nationalization movement (1951-1953) was significant, the subsequent period saw Iran gain greater control over its oil resources through OPEC and bilateral agreements, allowing the nation to fund its ambitious modernization programs.
